As we do not produce optical cables ourselves, our customers can be assured that we are solely focused on their needs. Firstly, as we will not compete in the cabling market, we are glad to openly support our cabling customers in their marketing efforts with their end customers. Secondly, we are very flexible when it comes to sales agreements, and will be true to our agreements in terms of volume allocation, as we have no own production based on our fibers. We start from the best material to produce optical fibers: Ultra-pure synthetic fused silica. We are a leading global producer of this material since the 1980s and have paved the way for many global fiber manufacturers. We control the quality along the value chain and understand the implications of quartz composition down to the cabling and installation of the fibers. Heraeus' ultra pure glass is one of the key elements to achieve low attenuation and dispersion in the fiber. The unparalleled purity of our glass forms the bedrock, that subsequently empowers our customers to fabricate outstanding cables. 

We produce optical fiber from the very beginning, from glass, to cladding, then to preform and finally to fiber. The independent control over the entire fiber manufacturing process ensures exceptional quality and reliability. We gain detailed insights and data along the value chain that help optimize material selection, manufacturing processes, and parameters. Our unique approach based on a cladding cylinder also enables us to significantly contribute to the development of next-generation fiber technology. Based on our large RIC^® cylinder, we have developed an industrial-scale solution to produce multi-core fibers, and based on the cylinder’s precisely manufactured dimensions, we can support customer with tight-tolerance tubes for the production of very low attenuation hollow-core fibers.
